Dance Camp
Whew, crazy day. I'm getting ready to head off to something called Dance Camp tommorrow for a week. Dance Camp is great; I try to go every year. It's up in the Sierra Mountains, and is basicly camping, good food, dance lessons, and hanging out. It's a great community of amateur dancers. Some of the dance classes include contact improv, which is a unique form of dance. From Wikipedia:
Contact Improvisation meetings are called jams in which participants can participate or watch as they want. These dance jams are similar to the practice of Jazz musicians bringing themselves and using the time to explore the limits of the form.
Contact Improv is similar to Modern dancing, but is completely improvisational rather than pre-choreographed. You usually do it with a partner, which is challenging and fun since both people need to play off each other to figure out what to dance next.
